Monthly Musings: November 2022
Hello friends, hi! Happy Wednesday evening! Welcome to our Monthly Musings: November 2022 post! I hope it finds you unwinding for the presumably chilly night ahead – ideally in your comfiest pants and your coziest jumper, maybe with a cup of earl grey to keep your fingers toasty. I am literally the living embodiment of everything I just described, except if you’ve imagined it to be in any way cutesy, take it down a few pegs, and then you have me! Anyways, I’m so glad you’re here! This post marks two wonderful things: the beginning of one of my very favourite months, and four years of sharing these posts. Four whole years of oversharing! I’m so grateful that you’re here, reading my lengthy ramblings month after month; it means the world to me! <3
Our dose of musings for November are below, filled with all the usual chatter suspects: travel, food, movies, and a few random tidbits for good measure. If you need me, I’ll be over here, stressed about finding a boiler repair guy, but more on that below. Enjoy!

Covid-19 update: Fiancé & I both got boosted yesterday! I honestly didn’t think it was on the cards for me, but I got lucky and nabbed a spot off the cancellation list at my local GP! We both received the adapted Pfizer vaccine and I feel so grateful! Well, I actually feel pretty unwell, sore, achy all over, and have been nursing a killer headache all day – but grateful nonetheless. Other than that, no real Covid news. I have heard rumblings that they’re looking to bring mandatory mask wearing back into effect on public transport, but I never stopped doing that anyways, so.. We shall see.

Related: did you catch my Last Autumn Bucket List? Getting! It! Done! Do you think I manifested the booster into happening by including ‘get my next booster’ on my bucket list? I’m thinking yes. Aside from that, I’ve been doing some pumpkin baking, and watching all the on-theme movies. I would even go so far as to say this year has been our biggest scary-movie-fest ever – we watched 27 horror films this month! If you’re interested in what we watched, you can click here to see our film diary on Letterboxd. It’s such a handy way of keeping track of what we’ve watched!

In case you missed it, two new Canadian travel guides hit the blog last month! Two Days in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and An Afternoon in Downtown Dartmouth, Halifax. I have one more to come, covering all things food & drink in Halifax, and then we’re done! I still can’t believe that I actually made it to Canada, it was everything I dreamed it would be and more!

One of my very best friends is moving to Germany at the end of the week, and I’m equal parts ecstatic for her and sad that she’s leaving. She’s moving to Berlin, and, while it’ll be nice to have an excuse to head back to the German capital, it’ll be sad we won’t be able to do our bi-weekly date (wine) nights in person anymore. Back to the pandemic-style video catch-ups it is! If you want to read about our travels together over the years: Berlin Travel Guide, and Four Days in Amsterdam, Holland. I’m sure there’ll be a localized Berlin guide in the not so distant future We’ll miss you, Fó!

Have you been watching anything good lately? Movie-wise, like I said above, we’ve been focused on scary movies. The only non-horror we watched was Under the Tuscan Sun, which was totally up my alley, and TV-wise things have been pretty slow. We’re still dipping in and out of Scream Queens S2, but it isn’t as gripping as S1. We’re looking forward to starting both From Scratch and The White Lotus S2, purely because both are based in Italy. Are you sensing a theme here?

Speaking of movies! Have you watched The Accursed yet? We heard just the other night that it won, among other things, BEST FEATURE SCREENPLAY at the HorrorHaus film festival in LA! Best screenplay! Fiancé’s script won best feature screenplay! Congratulations Rob, I am so so proud of you!!

Friends, our gas boiler is on the blink. The other day, out of nowhere, it decided to stop igniting, leaving us with nothing but cold water. Cold water for the dishes, and, extremely unfortunately, cold water for the shower. It is a very sad state of affairs, and it doesn’t seem like there are any available gas boiler repair men out there. You don’t happen to know any, do you? We’re desperate.

Are you on BeReal? I was late to the party, but now that I’m there, I rather like it! It’s an app that, at a different random time every single day, prompts you to take a photo within the next 2 minutes and share it with your friends. The app takes a photo from both front and back cameras at the same time, capturing you and whatever you’re looking at; the idea being that in the allotted 2 minutes, you don’t have time to clean up or fix your hair etc., and you’ll just be real. Honestly, it’s not the greatest app, but it’s fun! My favourite features are a) the calendar memory bank & b) the ‘RealMojis’ you can send to friends. Join us!

Lastly, just to round off on something lovely and happy, on this very day next year, Fiancé & I will be officially husband and wife! It’s going to be a tiny registry office affair to make things official before our actual wedding wedding – the ceremony of which will, for all intents and purposes, be a big show and dance for our loved ones. I can’t wait!! One year from today!
And there we have it, our Monthly Musings: November 2022 post! Let’s catch up again next month, yes?
My love to you,
Vicki xo
